Crime Alert - Burglary

Dear Resident,

Humberside Police are investigating multiple reports of burglaries within the Grimsby area whereby suspects are targeting key safes in an attempt to gain entry. 

Although so far, (to my knowledge) this has not impacted Scartho/Waltham or the Wolds, I believe it is necessary to share this information with the community so residents can be proactive and take precautions in order to safeguard their properties.

“”Are key safes safe?

Key safes can be safe, but their security largely depends on how and where they are used. High-quality key safes, properly installed and discreetly placed, can significantly reduce the risk of burglary. However, no key safe is 100% tamper-proof, and some home insurance providers may require you to inform them if you have a key safe, especially if it is used for regular third-party access. To avoid invalidating your home insurance, it's advisable to let your insurer know about your key safe or any plans to install one."

To assist us in identifying stolen property please consider property marking high value items using Forensic Marking or UV pens.  You are also advised to register property at www.immobilise.com which is a free on-line property register used by police forces nationwide to reunite stolen goods to their owners. All you have to do is register on-line and then upload properties electrical items serial numbers.

If you have a burglar alarm ensure it is set and working.
